In this post, I will be introducing street food at Jeonju Hanok Village!
Jeonju is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. This city is best known for Bibimbap, which is Korean mixed rice with vegetables, and meat (optional). Jeonju is also known for its famous street food at Jeonju Hanok Village!
Here are the top 4 street food you must not miss when visiting Jeonju!
Within Jeonju Hanok Village, there is a pretty big shop selling dumplings.
The shrimp dumping is the most popular item there and is huge!
2. Strawberry Mochi
I went to a cafe that sells mochi. There are 2 flavours – strawberry & persimmon.
The strawberry mochi has red bean in it too. I really like this!
The dried persimmon mochi is less satisfying than the strawberry mochi haha.
This shop also sells traditional tea (e.g. jujube tea) and bingsoo, which is great for the hot summer weather!
This is how the mochi shop/cafe looks like. You can eat in or take out if you like.
3. Macaron Ice Cream
There are several stalls selling macaron ice cream. I went to a store called Thera Macaron. You can sit inside the tiny cafe to eat. Thera Macaron sells macarons and also macaron ice cream. It has 2 flavours of macaron ice cream – Strawberry & Chocolate.
I chose the strawberry one. The lady at the shop gave me a normal macaron for free too 🙂 The ice cream flavour is strawberry with small bits of cheese cake in it. The ice cream macaron was HUGE, compared to the normal macaron (as you can see in the picture below), and it tastes good 😀
4. PNB (풍년제과) Choco Pie
PNB’s choco pie does not have marshmallow filling. The filling is fresh cream and strawberry jam instead which makes it unique 🙂
Also, this choco pie is hand made, as you can see in the video below (skip to 0:25 to see it).
This shop also sells other biscuits and snacks.
There are several PNB outlets within Jeonju Hanok Village, and 1 at the Jeonju train station too.
Ok that’s all for now. Enjoy the food in Jeonju~
