Staying at a hotel in Myeongdong or going to Myeongdong for a day of shopping? Wondering what food to eat in Myeongdong? Here is a list of restaurants in Myeongdong that I recommend. I have included the addresses and map to each restaurant as well.
TIP: Use Daum maps to locate the restaurants. It is more accurate than Google Maps. http://map.daum.net
I have included the Korean names of the restaurants I recommend. You can copy and paste the Korean names of the restaurants in the search bar in Daum map to find them 🙂 Alternatively, when you are at Myeongdong, you can ask the staff in red vests & hats, marked with the ‘ⓘ’ information logo, for directions. They walk around Myeongdong to help tourists find their way.
1. GoBong Ginseng Chicken (고봉 삼계탕)
GoBong’s (고봉) ginseng chicken soup is very savoury and tasty, with the tender chicken meat. This dish comes with a small cup of Ginseng wine (as seen in the picture above). You can add the ginseng wine into the soup or drink it as it is, depending on your preference.
Price: 14,000 won
Where: Located near Euljiro-1-ga Station, exit 5/6. It is opposite 7-eleven.
You can take the lift up to the 3rd floor. Below is a map indicating the location and also a picture of the sign next to the elevator you should take. It is open from 9am – 10pm daily.
Address: 199-13 Euljiro 2(i)-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul

2. Mille Feuille (밀피유)
Mille Feuille is a Tonkatsu shop. Tonkatsu means fried breaded pork cutlet. What’s so special about its pork cutlet? This pork cutlet consists of 25 super thin layers of pork, making it soooo soft and delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside 😀
See how thin the layers are? 😛 I ordered the cheese tonkatsu so you can see the melted cheese in this picture 😀 There are many flavours to choose from: Original, Cheese, Black Pepper, Garlic, Herb and many more!
Where: There are 2 outlets in Myeongdong. They are between 2 stations: Euljiro-1-ga Station (Line 2, green line) and Myeongdong Station (Line 4, light blue line).

There are also outlets near Ewha Women’s University Station (Line 2), Sungshin Women’s University Station (Line 4), Yongsan Station (Line 1).
3. Saboten (사보텐)
Saboten is another Tonkatsu restaurant in Myeongdong.
It is from Japan but there are Korean menu items as well such as my favourite Albap Tonkatsu (알밥정식), which costs 12,000 won. Albab means fish roe mixed rice. This albab comes with red and yellow coloured fish roe, with some kimchi and seaweed for added flavour.
There is also Cheese Tonkatsu, Tonkatsu with cold noodles, Black Pork Tonkatsu and many other types. The tonkatsu is tender and the breadcrumbs are really light and crispy.
There is also the original Tonkatsu – with 2 types of meat to choose from: normal & tenderloin. The tenderloin tonkatsu is really tender haha 😀
There are branches in other parts of Seoul as well such as Korea University. I have also featured this restaurant in my previous post about food near Korea University: https://trailsanddestinations.wordpress.com/2015/05/03/food-in-seoul-near-korea-university-part-1/

4. Yoogane (유가네)
Yoogane is a shop that serves DakGalBi (닭갈비), which is stir fried marinated diced chicken. Here is a picture of part of the menu (taken from the Yoogane Singapore website: http://yoogane.com.sg/menu/
There are a lot more items in the Korea restaurants compared to the one in Singapore.
At the restaurant, the waiter will cook the food at your table, right in front of you! There are free side dishes as well! 😛
